My name is Jayson Potter. I’m a writer, a researcher, and someone who finds purpose in the stories we tell and the traditions we carry forward. This blog marks the beginning of a journey where I’ll share my thoughts, experiences, and lessons learned as I explore the connections between personal growth, heritage, and creativity.

Why I Write and Research

Writing has always been my way of navigating the world around me. It helps me process life’s challenges, celebrate discoveries, and share the insights I uncover along the way. It allows me to express myself in a way that is uniquely my own way. Hopefully, my writings will connect with you and help you with what you are currently working through. 

On the other hand, research fuels my curiosity and pushes me to dig deeper, and uncover truths that resonate. It allows me to question and then look for answers to the many parts of life. I will never claim to be an expert in anything. In today’s world, there is far too much out there to ever think one person can know it all, even in just one topic.

Together, writing and research allow me to tell stories that inspire, challenge, and bring people closer to understanding themselves and each other. They allow me to bring an idea to the real and connected world. Both allow me to validate or dismiss the ideas of the world around us all. 

Honoring My Past and Heritage

We have all been through a lot. We all have stories and experiences to share. Each one is unique and has shaped who we are as individuals. It gives us our perspectives and shapes our world. It frames our viewpoints and focuses or path. Unfortunately, it can also cause our view on life to be constrained through a filter and frame. 

I am no different. My life has blended extreme highs and unimaginable lows. Life has its twists and turns. Each bend in the road has taught me something about this life that we all live. Some of these lessons seemed obvious and elementary. Others were a quick kick to the face that seemed to cripple me and send life tumbling in a drastically different direction. All of these twists and turns are important in crafting who I have become.

Being Osage has profoundly shaped how I see the world. Storytelling, for me, is more than an art—it’s a thread that ties generations together. It’s a way to honor those who came before while crafting a vision for the future. My heritage reminds me to stay resilient, seek balance, and remain deeply connected.

Becoming a father was probably the most eye-opening experience that ever happened to me. It opened my eyes to the real world and recrafted my reality centered around not one but two beautiful daughters. They are the light of my life and have reshaped me into the man that I am today. Growing up, I never saw myself as either a father or a girl dad. . . now I cannot see myself as ever being anything else. 

Through this website, I hope to weave my roots into stories that speak to anyone searching for meaning, connection, or inspiration. We all have our successes in life and our fears that try to tear us down. Life has a way of just happening. My hope is that through this site you can find just a little understanding through my consistent research of the never-ending question. . .

What You Can Expect

This space will be home to reflections on resilience, insights into my creative process, and the influence of my Osage traditions on my work. I’ll share personal stories of growth, lessons from life’s challenges, and the inspiration I draw from my family and community. My hope is that these posts will encourage you to reflect, inspire you to act, and spark conversations that matter.

I am a writer. On this website, I will show you my research and work through topics that I am crafting into my next work. While I have other websites that focus on specific topics and educational paths, here you will find more of a personal and vulnerable approach to me as a writer. Because of which, I am choosing to start fresh. I will not share any previous work or books that I have written. 

If you are expecting a formal and well-written Author’s Website, this may not be the place for you. While I welcome all, I know that people have different opinions and beliefs. My writing style may not connect with you, and that’s ok. This site is an opportunity for me to show the world who I am and meet others along the way. For those of you who feel the same way welcome and let me introduce myself.
