What Can You Expect From My Writing on This Website?
What Can You Expect From My Writing on This Website
Welcome to JaysonPotter.Productions
I wanted to take a moment to step away from my work and tell you a little more about myself and why I created this site. If you have been looking around it, you may have seen that most of the original content I am publishing is centered around childhood development and nonviolent parenting. As I said before in my first blog post, I am a researcher, a writer, and I work on several different websites. Although I have been published several times, I am not going to bring any of this work into this new website.
I say this because I am not going to use this website as an advertising page for any of the past work that I have done. Most of my work is done in private and you have not gotten a chance to see any of the work that was done to create those publications. I want this site to be different than anything else that I have done before. Instead of me working on the writing work in private and only showing the final product, this website is going to be an opportunity to work more in the public light.
So what does this mean exactly? Rather than just publishing a finished product, I am going to show you the writing work that goes into a writer’s daily life. You will see my future books come to life step by step here. I will try to keep my origional writing in the blog section so that you can see the ideas develop as I am working on them. My writing process is typically to do a free-write to get an idea that is in my head out on paper, or in this case on screen.
Next, I will start to research it. You will see this research work happening because links will start to appear to other pages I create on the website. I will keep my research to subject-specific web pages. While I will not normally rewrite a blog post once I have written it, I will rework and rewrite my research on a topic over and over again to make it as thorough and accurate as I can. On these pages, I will link other websites and to other pages on this website that has my own writing about the research that I have done. Over time, I will take the external links and convert them to pages I have studied and written so that my work is uniform and will read better in a book.
I organize my research not by the topic that I am writing on, or the project that it is for, but rather by the subject it is covering. This process allows me to build up research as I go so that I can link to it in future projects rather than just starting my research from scratch with each new project. This will allow you to see my drafts of work happening independently of the research that I am doing. If you have questions feel free to ask them in the comments.
Lastly, when I publish books or other work, I will create a section for them on this website. This way you will be able to see the starting project (blog posts), the development work (webpages), and then be able to purchase the final product (various formats of books) if you choose to. I wish that someone had done this when I first started to research how to become a writer. Because of this, the content here on this website is my gift to the writing world and those who desire to become a writer.
Diverse Topics, Unified Vision
My writing spans a variety of topics, but every post is connected by one simple goal: to inform, inspire, and engage.
You can expect content on:
- Freelance Writing Tips: Practical advice for aspiring writers looking to make their mark.
- Personal Growth and Creativity: Insights into the challenges and triumphs of living a creative life.
- Behind-the-Scenes of My Writing Journey: Updates on my projects, lessons learned, and the thought process behind my work as I discussed previously.
- Storytelling: Although I have studied it and tried several times, I am not a fiction writer. I simply do not find passion in it and therefore choose not to pursue the world of fiction. I do however believe in the art of storytelling. You may find that I will take a real-life event and work it into a narrative storyline to hook a reader and captivate their interest into what’s to come.
Authenticity in Every Post
I write from the heart and draw on personal experiences to connect with my audience. My goal is to share authentic stories and ideas—unpolished at times but always real. The only area where you may not find authenticity on this website is in some of the research that I am working on. Some of it will be quoted and very matter-of-fact. You may or may not be able to see my writing style come out when I am creating a web page specifically for subject-specific research.
Actionable Takeaways
I am a big believer in taking action. Whether it’s advice for freelancers or lessons from my creative projects, I aim to provide something you can take with you. Expect:
- Step-by-step guides.
- Practical tips for writers and creatives.
- Resources to help you grow personally and professionally.
Please know that these materials that are created here may be included in future projects that may be sold or offered for sale.
A Dash of Inspiration
Through my writing, I hope to encourage you to take on challenges, embrace creativity, and build the life you envision. I’ll share how I navigate obstacles and celebrate wins, big or small.
Connection and Community
JaysonPotter.Productions is not just a website—it’s a space for connection. I hope my writing resonates with you and sparks meaningful conversations. Your feedback and thoughts matter, so don’t hesitate to engage with me in the comments.
Looking Ahead
Occasionally, I am also going to include posts like this one. I am a firm believer that to be a full-time writer, you must write every day. What you write is completely up to you. The important part is that you are consistently getting into the practice and working on becoming better.
Some days I may have an idea that pops into my head which I would like to share with you that is more about writing instead of on the project that I am working on. On other days, I may have an idea for a future project that I want to get out of my head but it may not be something that I work on, or work very little on until I have finished the projects that I am currently working on and find time to work through them.
The purpose of putting the content here, instead of tucked away in the memory of my laptop, is to show you what is actually going on in the day-to-day workings of being a full-time writer. If you come back to my site one day or a couple of days in a row and do not see any new content created, it could be because I am working on the tech website or am doing some writing for a client that I cannot share the process of creating their content. I hope you understand. 🙂
Work With Me
SIDE NOTE: I do work for clients on a contract or retainer basis depending on how much work is requested and the consistency of writing. I can be a guest writer, a ghostwriter, or a writer on staff with your company. The only thing that I will not do is sign a noncompete and work for your company exclusively. This would not be fair to my current clients. If you would like to work with me as a writer for you, your brand, or your company, please contact me and we can talk more about your specific project and what you would like to be produced.
